Each July, we celebrate the birth of Bastionpoint Technology. Specifically, on the 4th, but not to take away from our nation’s birthday, we tend to open up about it around mid-month. After all, the first two weeks of any new job or business can be stressful.
Headed into year 15, Bastionpoint is fortunate to be able to stop and take a few moments to catch our breath and celebrate how far we have come as a Managed Service Provider.
Founder and managing partner Jason Knowles is still at the helm of our day-to-day operations. And yes, he still has his ponytail. Our very first “real” employee, Nathan Crowell, can still be found doing whatever is needed to help the company continue to succeed. With various other team members joining in years 3, 5, 8, 10, and beyond, we continue to grow and provide the best customer experience for our clients.
Serving as the vCIO and writing this article nearly five years after joining Bastionpoint, it humbles me to say that though the technology has changed, our core values have stayed the same. During my initial interview, when asked about the operation, Nathan clearly said to me, “It can be hard work, but it’s not a hard place to work.” No words have ever rung truer.
From adding new employees and customers, to improving our technology and processes with a stricter focus on cybersecurity, Bastionpoint has always been about putting the customer’s needs first. To do that, we utilize teamwork. Our team is where we shine.
As we continue to support the legal, medical, and manufacturing sectors and be a host of other B2B and B2C businesses and organizations in our network, we want to continue to be your trusted partner and resource for infrastructure and technology. Since our beginning, our core focus has been to operate as a cost-effective alternative to an internal IT department, providing outsourced helpdesk, network design, implementation, and security services. Our service offerings have expanded to include compliance consulting and structured cabling/infrastructure. While we still focus on the Richmond area, we have had the pleasure of working with newer clients throughout the mid-Atlantic region. We also enjoy working with businesses that fall outside those parameters, connecting them with trusted partners and vendors.

Bastionpoint is continually adding technical roles and customer success advocates to help support our customers’ growing day-to-day needs, and we look forward to completing our operation center renovation by year-end.
