(Not really a novel, but it could be!)
When I joined Bastionpoint the first thing that really impressed me was how close the staff was. There were a good number of inside jokes and conversations being had. I was included in the culture from the beginning and have always felt welcomed. From the beginning, our managing partner has said “if you see something we can do better, let us know”. Bastionpoint is a place that your feedback and suggestions are heard. Here you are not just another number, but you are a valued member of the strong technical team.
Being in the MSP Field we work with clients in different industries, the ability to understand and work with different variety of clients from 1 to 500 users is exciting. When working with our clients you learn and have a better understanding of how their businesses run. This really assists you in making educated decisions that benefit the clients directly, which is exciting because it’s more than just “IT”. We have worked to create a collaborative environment where it’s okay to ask questions and learn, as we are one team regardless of being on the front lines of the Help Desk Team or supporting efforts from the Projects Team.
While all the above are great reasons why I like working at Bastionpoint the items below are important to me:
Growing with the Company – Bastionpoint has grown a lot in the last 3 years that I have been employed here. I’ve had the opportunity to meet and work beside some of the most talented IT Professionals in Richmond, VA. Knowing your work has directly contributed to the company’s growth, is an incredible feeling. I am proud to be a part of this company and I do my best to treat it as if it were mine.
Making a difference – Something I really enjoy about my job is that we truly do make a difference in the work lives of our clients. When we are onboarding a new client, and I hear about a serious issue that has been plaguing the client for months. There is no better feeling than to be able to say, “That is fixed” and see the reactions of our clients. (Pre-Covid) I’ve had clients hug me because they were struggling with computer issues that the Bastionpoint Team was able to resolve permanently within a short time.
Learning from Talented People – When I started my career at Bastionpoint, it was a change from what I was used to working in a support role. My colleagues were really accommodating and guided me in the right direction at the beginning of my time here. I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with our vCIO and Managing Partner on client solutions. I continue to learn from and with them. I am currently leading the Projects/Onboarding Team, we all have our unique skill sets. We often cross-train and complete skill share activities, to improve our abilities.
There are many reasons that outline “why I like working at Bastionpoint”, so when asked to write this article it was hard to keep it in a “blog format”. I wrote everything down, condensed it, and then had a really hard time deciding how to wrap this message up once “Learning from Talented People” was in the text. For several days, I said to myself – “I am not sure how to end this?” Given much thought, I asked a team member who said… “get it to me, and I will figure it out” and here we are, ENDING WITH TEAMWORK…. And that’s why I like working at Bastionpoint.
